Research Areas
ESTEEM focuses on fundamental scientific research to support a transformation in energy efficiency of microelectronics because of the critical and growing societal imperative for breakthrough advances in this area. Energy efficiency enhancements that are possible by the design of 3D neuromorphic computing architectures with reconfigurability and facile data transfer require new device physics and materials. Our approach is to harness the unique capabilities of SLAC, a major DOE Office of Science laboratory, and an expert team of academic PIs with the advice and engagement of leading U.S. microelectronics industry partners to develop new methods, materials and devices guided by atoms-to-algorithms co-design.
